Raudoni medžiai blaškosi kalnyne
Virš jūros lenkia kilnią galvą saulė,
Šypsodamasi skęstančiam Ikarui,
Ir iš akmens išaugusiom gatvelėm
Parjoja du makabriški keleiviai.
Pilki namai, gelsvas akis nuleidę,
Paniurę šnibždasi. Aukštai ant stogo
Senos bažnyčios tyliai žaidžia
Kaip voverys maži velniukai,
Ir stebuklingai žydinčiam pilies
Sode, bekūnės Cranacho Madonos
Skreite padėjęs garbiniuotą galvą,
Apviltas kukčioja švelnus kentauras.

Nuo jūros girdisi vėsus ošimas;
Į krantą išmestos žuvies aky
Sapnuoja kūno gundomas šventasis,
Ir velnio apsėsta sena kaimietė,
Lopšy mažyti kauką supdama,
Baimingai klausosi, kaip gūdžiai šlama
Jai nusidėjėliai, pavirtę medžiais.
